“The First Fleet on the Attack 2565.5.27”「
"Enemy fleet sighted alarm, Combined Fleet to sortie, attack, weather clear but waves rough"
On May 27, 1905, 7:10 a.m., the Combined Fleet, which had detected the Baltic Fleet proceeding through the eastern waterway of the Tsushima Strait on its route to Vladivostok, sortied from from Jinhae Bay though the Gadeok Channel. The First Fleet marches on the swollen surface of the sea to confront the Baltic Fleet. The Combined Fleet was training hard and preparing meticulously for this battle, with the very survival of Japan at stake. And when reports of the discovery of the enemy fleet were received, no ship broke down or dropped out of the historic battle. The text added to the telegraphic messages about the weather at the time of the Combined Fleet's sortie shows the strong will of the Japanese, whose morale was high, and their skills were high, to overwhelm the Baltic Fleet.
This work depicts the First Fleet led by Commander-in-Chief Heihachiro Togo advancing against the rolling waves to destroy the Baltic Fleet. Behind the flagship Mikasa at the head of the advancing fleet are the battleship Shikishima, battleship Fuji, battleship Asahi, armored cruiser Kasuga, armored cruiser Nisshin, and dispatch boat Tatsuta.
