“Archer of the Flaming Bullets -Diamond Shield- Guided Missile Destroyer JS Kongo”

　「こんごう」（JS Kongo, DDG-173）は、こんごう型護衛艦の1番艦。同名を冠する艦としては、帝国海軍から数えて3代目で、海上自衛隊初のイージス艦です。
　作品は、「こんごう」の元乗組員よりご依頼を受け、当時の艦長・砲術長・VLS員長のご協力を得て、後部VLSよりSM3を発射した瞬間を描いたものです。後方には護衛艦「あきづき」が随伴し、弾道弾迎撃を行う「こんごう」周辺の警戒に当たっています。舷側の手摺支柱のたたみ方や、僚艦との距離感等、様々な部分で監修頂きました。「Diamond Shield」は、同艦のニックネームです。



JS Kongo (DDG-173) is the first of the Kongo class destroyers. It is the third ship to bear the same name, counting from the Imperial Japanese Navy, and the first Aegis warship of the Maritime Self-Defense Force.
This work was requested by a former crew member of the Kongo and depicts the moment when the SM3 was fired from the rear VLS with the cooperation of the captain, chief gunnery officer and VLS crew chief at the time. Behind the Kongo, the destroyer Akizuki is accompanying her, and is on alert around her to intercept ballistic missiles. I was advised in various areas, such as how to fold the handrail posts at the edge of the deck and the distance between the consort ship. "Diamond Shield" is her nickname.
