　「むらさめ」（JS Murasame, DD-101）は、9隻建造されたむらさめ型護衛艦の1番艦です。艦名は「ひとしきり降ってはやみ、やんではまた降る雨」（村雨）に由来し、帝国海軍の春雨型駆逐艦「村雨」、白露型駆逐艦「村雨」、海上自衛隊のむらさめ型護衛艦 (初代)「むらさめ」に続き4代目の艦です。海上自衛隊の第2世代汎用護衛艦として、平成3年度から平成9年度にかけて計9隻が建造され、続いて発展型のたかなみ型護衛艦、あきづき型護衛艦、あさひ型護衛艦が建造されました。現在では、むらさめ型9隻、たかなみ型5隻、あきづき型4隻、そしてあさひ型2隻と共に、護衛隊群の基準構成艦となっています。
　作品は、平成27年の第21次派遣海賊対処行動水上部隊として、「いかづち」と共にソマリア沖・アデン湾で任務に従事しているシーンを描いたものです。「むらさめ」は、不審船臨検のために、複合艇（ＲＨＩＢ）を降ろしたところで、ダビット周辺には作業中の自衛官がいます。背景には共に行動中の「いかづち」、上空には連携して任務にあたるＰ-3Ｃが飛行中です。タイトルの「Passing Shower」は、同艦のニックネームです。



JS Murasame (DD-101) is the first ship of the nine Murasame class destroyers. Her name derives from "the rain that falls for a while, then stops and falls again" (村雨), and she is the fourth generation of the Murasame class destroyers following the Harusame class destroyer "Murasame" and the Shiratsuyu class destroyer "Murasame" of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and the Murasame class destroyer (first generation) "Murasame" of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. As the Maritime Self-Defense Force's second-generation general-purpose destroyers, a total of nine ships were built between fiscal 1991 and 1997, followed by the developmental Takanami class destroyers, Akizuki class destroyers, and Asahi class destroyers. Today, along with nine Murasame class destoryers, five Takanami class destroyers, four Akizuki class destroyers, and two Asahi class destroyers, they are the standard component of the Escort Flotillas.
This work depicts scenes from the 2015 mission in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Somalia, with the Ikazuchi as part of the 21st Deployment Anti-Piracy Action Waterborne Unit. The Murasame has just unloaded her composite boat (RHIB) for an on-site inspection of a suspicious vessel, and there are SDF officers at work around the davits. In the background is the Ikazuchi in action together, and a P-3C flying a coordinated mission is in the sky above. The title "Passing Shower" is the nickname of the ship.
