　「とうりゅう」（JS Toryu, SS-512）は、そうりゅう型潜水艦の最終艦となる12番艦。艦名は、兵庫県加東市の名勝「闘竜灘」に由来し、荒々しく戦う竜を意味します。
　本作品は、関西水交会の宮﨑行隆会長（令和3年時）よりご依頼を頂き、就役の際の関西水交会からの激励品として「とうりゅう」へ寄贈されました。「武運長久」「任務完遂」そして「無事帰還」の祈りを込めて本作品を描きました。日本を取り巻く状況が非常にきな臭くなっている今日、この作品が防衛の最前線で過酷な任務に就く「とうりゅう」乗組員の皆様の士気を高める一助になれば、望外の喜びです。「Stay Gold」は、同艦のニックネームです。

JS Toryu (SS-512) is the 12th and final submarine of the Soryu class. The ship was named after the famous scenic spot "Toryu-nada" in Kato-shi, Hyogo Prefecture, which means a wildly fighting dragon.
This work was requested by Mr. Yukitaka Miyazaki, Chairman of Japan Naval Association Kansai Branch (2021) and donated to the Toryu as a gift of encouragement from Japan Naval Association Kansai Branch on the occasion of her commissioning. I drew this work as a prayer for "long military fortune", "completion of the mission", and "safe return home". In these days that the situation surrounding Japan is becoming extremely tense, it would be my great pleasure if this work helps to raise the morale of the crew of the Toryu, who are on the front line of defense and performing a tough mission. "Stay Gold" is the ship's nickname.
