“Operation Kikusui 2605 -Battleship Yamato & Zero Fighter Type 52 Koh-”

　作品には、夕闇迫る海を夕日に向かってまっすぐ進む「大和」と、爆装した零戦が描かれています。帝国海軍を代表する戦艦「大和」と零戦、そして夕日は全て菊水作戦を象徴したものです。帝国海軍の斜陽と共に、生還を期さない特攻作戦で散華した数多の英霊たちの鎮魂を祈り、本作品を描きました。「大和」艦上の乗組員たちは、皆全力で帽を振っています。それは沖縄へ出撃していく戦友たち、祖国に残る大切な人たち、愛すべき故郷に向けたものだけでなく、彼らが生きたかった未来に生きる画面の前のあなたに向けた「私たちを忘れないでくれ」という強い願いを表現しているのです。

The work depicts the Yamato and the bombed-out Zero fighters heading straight toward the setting sun on the ocean in the approaching evening darkness. I drew this picture to pray for the repose of the souls of the many heroes of the Imperial Japanese Navy, which was about to enter its final days, and who were scattered in suicide missions that did not allow them to return alive. The crew on board the Yamato are all waving their caps with all their might. They are not only waving their caps to their comrades who are leaving for Okinawa, their loved ones who remain in their homeland, and their beloved hometown, but also to you, the person in front of this drawing, who is living in the future that they wanted to live in, expressing their strong wish, "Don't forget us".
