　本作品は、「駆逐艦菊月会」からのご依頼により制作したもので、トウキョウ・ベイにかつての姿を現した「菊月」をイメージして描いたものです。タイトルの「幽顕の域界」とは、あの世とこの世の境目という意味です。舞い飛ぶ蝶は、現地に生息している（らしい）オオルリアゲハをモデルにしいます。仏教では、しばしば蝶が魂の象徴として描かれる事から、本作では12匹の蝶を戦没者12名の象徴とし、見上げる水兵を生存者の象徴としています。静謐な湾に浮かぶ「菊月」が、両者をつなぐ架け橋の存在としての意味を持っています。

This work was created at the request of “Destroyer Kikuzuki association”, she is drawn at anchor in Tokyo Bay (Ghovana Bay) the title of “Border to the next world”, means the line separating this world from the next. The Papilio Ulysses, or Blue Emperor Butterfly inhabits here. In Buddhism, butterflies are often depicted as a symbol of the soul, and in this work, the 12 butterflies symbolize the 12-war dead, while the sailor looking up at them symbolizes the survivors. Being shown at anchor in the calm water of the bay, she is a bridge for the crew crossing from this world into the next.
