“Like a Spear Through the Waves -Light Cruiser Kuma 2603-”

　作品は、昭和18年初頭に南太平洋上で哨戒任務に従事する「球磨」をイメージして描いたものです。戦時中の同艦を撮影した写真は少なく、僅かな資料を基に、多くを推測しながら制作しました。艦の後部に搭載されたカタパルトより、今まさに九四式二号水上偵察機が射出されたところです。耐ショック姿勢を取る水偵搭乗員にも、ご注目下さい。

The work depicts the Kuma on patrol duty over the South Pacific in early 1943. There are few photographs taken of her during the war, so I drew this work based on what little material I could find and speculated on many of the details. A Type 94 reconnaissance seaplane has just been ejected. Please pay attention to the crew of it, which is in a shock-resistant posture.
